Yacumama

The title of this work is a quechua word which means "the mother of water". Yacumama is a giant Anaconda, the mother of all sources of water in the Amazon who protects the rainforest. When outsiders enter the region to log or hunt indiscriminately, Yacumama kidnaps them and provokes strong storms that run their boats aground in the sand of the riverbanks. Those who step into the rainforest and travel through its great river with destructive intentions will face the fury of Yacumama.
