This piece is inspired by the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a mountain range that rises to more than five thousand meters above the Caribbean sea in Colombia. The iku or arhuaco people is one of the five nations who live there. Their creator deity is Kaku Serankua who, as the story goes, retrieved four iron rods called Yuisimanu and chose four deities and made them gold relics in his image. He designated them as owners of earthquakes and placed them in the four cardinal points. These deities sustain the world through the four iron rods so it won't ever collapse.
