Australia, 1962
David Mackie was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1962.
He studied art at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, majoring in sculpture.
After leaving art school he worked for a number of years making wooden toys for a small company of Melbourne, Woodpecker Toys.
In 1992 he moved to Montisi, in Siena province, Italy, where he currently lives and works.
