Fani Pantazidou - CV
Fani Pantazidou was born in Athens where she lives and works. She studied Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts.-ASFA (5th Studio), under the tutelage of professors Dimitris Sakellion, Giorgos Kazazis, and Kostas Tsolis. She has also attended seminars on Art History with Thanasis Moutsopoulos and Katerina Zacharopoulou.
Fani Pantazidou's artistic pursuits often focus on exploring the bonds that shape us: family, the position of women, the social context that limits us. In her works, a familiar object or form is detached from its natural environment and reframed. The objects are not presented as descriptive narratives, but as autonomous symbols in a minimalist manner. The white of the paper is not just a background, but an "active void". The text. is often incorporated into the works and become part of the composition, enhancing the multiple readings of the work. The large scale enhances its symbolic meaning. She often chooses pencil on paper as the primary means of expression, this choice is not accidental. the pencil allows a direct contact with the surface,. it is simple, fragile and precise.
She has presented two solo exhibitions: The first at Nees Morfes Gallery,2009, Athens, curated by Eleni Kypraiou. The second “Flora in situ”at Mets art centre.gallery, Athens,2023 Curator: Niovi Kritikou
