Bulgaria, 1958

Krassimir Rangelov is a distinguished Bulgarian sculptor whose career spans more than four decades of artistic exploration and international recognition. Rangelov graduated from the Art High School in 1977 and continued his education at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, where he specialized in Sculpture under the guidance of renowned professor Boris Gondov. He completed his studies in 1983 and soon established himself as a significant presence in contemporary Bulgarian sculpture. Since 1984, Rangelov has participated in numerous national and regional exhibitions throughout Bulgaria, while also representing Bulgarian contemporary art in international exhibitions across Europe and Asia. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA). His artistic career includes a series of notable solo exhibitions, among them presentations at Atelier 5 Gallery in Antwerp, Belgium (1992, 1993), Style 93 Forum in Ghent, Belgium (1993), Krida Art Gallery in Sofia (1994), Art Present Gallery in Paris, France (1998), and W.Z.V. XANTINE in Belgium (1998). His work has also been featured in international exhibitions in Ravenna, Italy, and Seoul, South Korea. More recently, Rangelov participated in a group exhibition at Covalenco Art Gallery in Geldrop, the Netherlands (2017), and held a solo exhibition at the historic Balabanov House in Plovdiv’s Old Town (2018). In the same year, he took part in the Wood Sculpture Symposium in Yasna Polyana, Bulgaria. Rangelov’s sculptures are distinguished by their refined forms, expressive vitality, and deep connection to both material and space. His works can be found in major public and private collections, including the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria, the Hugo Voeten Collection in Geel, Belgium, as well as the art galleries of Plovdiv, Burgas, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, and other Bulgarian cities. His sculptures are also held in private collections throughout Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Greece, the United States, and beyond, reflecting the enduring international appeal of his artistic vision.
