Natalia Chaplin is a painter working primarily in acrylic and oil, whose practice sits at the intersection of historical portraiture and contemporary unease. Drawing on the symbolic language of vanitas painting, the luminosity of the Pre-Raphaelites, and the mythic intimacy of Fayum portraiture. Her work explores the beauty and impermanence of both the human form and landscapes, using layered paint to reveal the subject. Chaplin holds a Bachelor of Arts and Media and has exhibited internationally, including in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Venice, New York, and the Royal Scottish Academy of Art.
