Dr Shanali Perera is a Sri Lankan-born, Manchester-based interdisciplinary contemporary artist working at the intersection of the body, the clinical gaze, and the politics of visibility. Informed by her background as a rheumatologist and her lived experience of vasculitis, her concept-led practice uses acrylic, digital, and mixed media to explore embodiment and identity. Through intuitive movement, abstraction, and distortion, she turns the visceral into the visual, reclaiming identity through expressive mark-making. She is also the author of Finding Me Beyond Illness.
