My name is Simona, and I’m a 31-year-old photographer. I was born and have always lived in Florence. My journey has always been guided by the search for new ways to give shape to visions and thoughts, to observe and interpret the world from different perspectives. In this sense, studying languages was not just an educational journey, but an early form of training for the eye: learning a language means restructuring one’s thought processes, shifting their rhythm, and embracing new nuances. It is a continuous exercise in translating the world. I studied languages through college, driven by a fascination with travel, with cultures different from my own, with sounds, and with human connection. Later, I followed my curiosity by expanding my creative language through design, earning a degree in Interior Design and exploring space as a form of expression and storytelling. After exploring these various systems of language and design, I returned to what has always been at the heart of my way of seeing: photography. It has been a part of my life since I was 15, even during times when I didn’t have a camera with me. Over time, my gaze has continued to silently observe and interpret my surroundings, cultivating a sensibility that I now recognize as central to my work. For me, photography is not merely personal expression or artistic design, but a living language: it is human connection, interpretation, movement, and emotion. Studying languages teaches the flexibility of meaning; art is its concrete translation into the visible world.
