Jaee Tee (b. Malaysia) is a visual artist working across painting, sculpture, and installation. Rooted in an intuitive relationship with the land shaped by her rural upbringing, her practice explores ecological grief, memory, and the unseen forces carried within landscape.
Working through a research-based practice informed by philosophical inquiry and direct engagement with ecological sites, Tee often incorporates natural pigments and gathered materials into her work. Moving between site and studio, she allows natural processes to participate in the making of her work. Moisture, ash, weathering, and gathered materials become collaborators, leaving traces of time, fragility, and transformation.
Rooted in her Chinese diasporic heritage, Tee draws from calligraphic brushwork, Shan Shui spatial thinking, and contemporary abstraction to create works shaped by layered atmospheres and shifting spatial fields.She approaches art as a space where material, memory, and environment converge.Tee has exhibited across Asia and Europea and was nominated for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize .
