My practice explores the unconscious and identity through drawing, investigating how our unique selves emerge in unnoticed repetitive actions and automatic daily moments. At the core of my work lies the fundamental question: "Who am I?" I examine how unconscious patterns reveal aspects of ourselves we might otherwise overlook, inviting viewers to discover their own hidden identities and behaviours. Working with ink on traditional Korean Hanji paper, I approach drawing not as preliminary sketches but as complete philosophical processes. Through brush and ink, I think, forming concepts where intention meets chance. Drawing serves as mental organisation for me. When thoughts overwhelm, the precision required for controlling ink density and creating delicate lines demands complete presence. In this meditative stillness, I discover what I truly want to express. My work reveals overlooked beauty in everyday experiences, investigating authentic expression versus performative creation. I question how artists navigate technical mastery while maintaining genuine voice. Rather than following complex plans, I trust simple impulses and immediate responses to what I observe. Through careful observation, I capture both visual information and the weight of unspoken thoughts, hoping art becomes both a tool for self-understanding and a bridge for empathy with others.
