Black Surfers depicts a group of figures emerging from the water and crossing a luminous threshold. The silhouettes move forward carrying surfboards, transformed into symbols of passage, adaptation, and a relationship with forces greater than the individual.

Water becomes a space of transition and memory, while the portal suggests a passage between different conditions of existence: belonging and displacement, past and future, reality and imagination. The figures seem to come from a suspended dimension, evoking universal experiences of migration, exile, and the search for new horizons.

In the work, the surfer takes on the role of a contemporary metaphor: a human being navigating uncertainty while seeking balance amid change. The journey is not represented as a destination, but as an ongoing process of transformation.

Black Surfers is part of the *Migrating Souls / Portals* series, a visual research project dedicated to themes of transition and identities in motion, where migration is also interpreted as an inner experience and a possibility for rebirth.
