Pearls Before Swine; the last birthday party

This composition blends carnival absurdity with religious undertones — a parody of The Last Supper, but staged as a grotesque birthday party where innocence, ritual, and decadence collide. At the head of the table, a Lucha Libre figure stands in for Christ, his masked face raised in theatrical command. Judas sits among the guests, coins spilling from his hand — the silver price of betrayal. They drink wine for the blood of Christ and break bread for his body, yet the feast has soured into parody: a cake crowned with serpentine icing, a roasted swine, and plates offering pearls instead of sustenance. Here, Christ’s warning — ‘Do not cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot’ — becomes grotesquely literal. The pearls gleam uselessly on empty plates, their sacred weight mocked by gluttony, folly, and betrayal.
