Abdullah Al-Wazzan is a Kuwaiti Filmmaker, Architect and Artist. in 2012 he graduated with a bachelor of Architecture. In 2019 he created the animated short film “Falafel Cart” about a refugee falafel vendor displaced from his country. Al-Wazzan single-handedly Animated the entire film, built and painted hundreds of models, puppets and backgrounds. The film later qualified and was officially submitted to the 92nd Academy Awards “Oscars” in the animated short film category. In 2020, Falafel Cart became Kuwait's first film to be officially selected at the prestigious Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan where it earned a best of the world special mention. Al-Wazzan won best international short film at the 2019 Los Angeles Animation Festival, and In 2021 won best animated short film at the Burbank International Film Festival in California, United States. His film was selected and nominated in many film festivals around the world including in Canada, Sweden, Morocco, Qatar, United Kingdom, Greece, France, Kuwait, UAE, U.S.A in Washington D.C, Palm Springs CA, Sonoma CA, Los Angeles, CA. In 2014 a work in progress version of his film officially participated at the Cannes International Film Festival and was nominated at the Dubai International Film Festival. In 2025 Al-Wazzan founded “Tentalien” a multidisciplinary company and brand, to pursue all of his upcoming Art and Design related endeavors, with the art series “Invasion/ Liberation” being his official art debut.
