Born in Paris in 1994, Aliha Thalien earned a master's degree in Cinema after attending La Sorbonne university (Paris). She then went on graduating at the National Fine Art School of Paris and at Fresnoy - national studio of contemporary art. She also studied at the WITS School of Art of Johannesburg. Her work in film, installation and sculpture revolves around memory and language, and explores questions of identity and territory in relation to her Caribbean heritage. Her work has been shown at international exhibitions and film festivals including the Centre Photographique de Marseille, MoMA (New York), the Centre Tignous pour l'art Contemporain (Montreuil) and the Grande Halle de la Villette (Paris).
