Italy, 1957
Andrea Federici was born in 1957 in Casalmaggiore (Cremona), where he lives and
works, into a family of artists and craftspeople.
He undertook his initial artistic studies in Parma before graduating from the Academy
of Fine Arts in Bologna under Professor Concetto Pozzati. Throughout his career, he
has experimented with various pictorial styles, initially focusing on artistic photography,
which he later abandoned in favour of painting. He first explored the techniques of
classical painting, using them to create a series of works inspired by mystical and
religious themes. He subsequently embraced more modern techniques, leading him to
a style of painting with a more spontaneous and vibrant quality. In recent years, his
work has explored the relationship between past and present, between reality and
inner imagery, predominantly depicting compositions featuring everyday objects,
landscapes, portraits and figures, always characterised by a distinct introspective
quality.
He has exhibited at the Palazzo Ducale in Revere, the On Art Gallery in Florence, and
the Centro Arte Perini in Castelvetro. At the Bologna branch of Maurizio Nobile Fine
Art, he took part in the group exhibition ‘Uno, nessuno e centomila. Artisti a confronto
(February 2023); at the Milan branch, however, he exhibited a selection of canvases
(Andrea Federici. Silenti attese, Sagep Editori 2023) in dialogue with the works of
Joan Crous and Giorgio Morandi as part of the exhibition Morandi e la
contemporaneità.
