Anthoula Simadiakou is a contemporary artist based in Cyprus. Her practice explores the emotional depth of human experience, focusing on memory, human connection, and the traces shaped by lived experiences, relationships and travel. Movement across places and cultures plays an important role in shaping her visual language and conceptual approach. Working with acrylics, charcoal, inks, gouache, and monotype techniques, she develops mixed-media paintings that move between abstraction and figuration. Her work is defined by bold colour, layered surfaces, and an intuitive approach to gesture and form, allowing emotional and psychological states to emerge through material exploration. She has presented solo exhibitions including Wanderer (2024) and Wanderer – A Sojourn in Paphos (2025). Her work has been featured in 101 Artbook: Women Artists on the Rise, Portrait Edition (Fall 2024) and she has participated in group exhibitions in painting and photography. Her practice reflects an ongoing exploration of how memory, movement, and human experience intersect within the act of painting.
