Italy, 1963
Carla Mariani lives in Tuscany. She was
born in 1963 in Caracas. Her
creativity urges her into Arts. This artistic
instinct blended with her pragmatic
side first inclined her to follow a career
in architecture: she worked in design
studios mostly in Venezuela and in the
Caribbean, Aruba.
However the architectural design did not
fulfil her strong need of a more physical
and emotional expression. Blown in
Tuscany and inspired by the gentle hills
modeled by nature and history of the
Val d’Orcia, she dedicates to sculpture,
creating soft and flowing forms, as
abstract flowers which represent the
harmony of the movement and the
permanent cycles of nature.
In his 2D works, a soft yet very material feeling can be identified, playing with the bright colours that belong to her being in contact with tropical South America; colours, ink and sinuous shapes that intertwine and create infinite universes.
Finally, with a personal interpretation
of the harmony of these forms, the
observer rediscovers its own deep
hidden instincts in the loving embrace
or in the struggle between the opposing
forces.
