Canada, 1972

Sergey Shvetsov is a multidisciplinary sculptor whose practice blends wire, clay, wood, recycled materials, and metals to create emotionally resonant, technically precise forms. With a background in the aircraft manufacturing industry, where he applied his welding skills, he explores themes of transformation, resilience, and the human spirit. His sculptures often juxtapose industrial textures with organic movement, capturing energy and emotion in stillness. Originally from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Sergey began his career working in aviation, fabricating aircraft components and honing his skills in metalwork and welding. After immigrating to Canada in 2000, he transitioned from furniture design to sculpture, while balancing work in the culinary and logistics industries. Influenced by music and the dynamism of the human form, he brings fluidity and structure into delicate balance, developing a visual language rooted in transformation. He frequently uses reclaimed materials, reflecting a sustainable approach that reinforces ideas of renewal and endurance. Sergey’s work has gained growing international recognition. His wire sculpture Golden Sail was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in 2024. In 2025, his sculpture Niccolò Paganini was featured in the London Art Biennale, affirming his presence within the contemporary sculpture scene. He continues to work primarily with wire and mixed media to create expressive, narrative-driven sculptures that resonate with a sense of movement, history, and emotion.
