Fadik Erin (b. 1992, Mersin, Turkey) is a visual artist based in Istanbul whose practice explores the body as a carrier of cultural memory, tracing the intersections of identity, inherited visual languages, fragmentation, and transformation. Erin graduated from the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, specialising in Illumination and Miniature. Drawing on this background, she brings the visual vocabulary of Anatolian and Ottoman artistic traditions into dialogue with contemporary approaches to the body and memory. Working primarily across painting, drawing, and mixed media, she combines charcoal, oil paint, handmade paper, and gold leaf, allowing traditional materials and motifs to move beyond their ornamental origins and become elements of a contemporary visual language. Central to Erin’s practice is the body as an archive: a surface upon which personal experience, collective memory, cultural inheritance, wounds, absence, and traces of lived experience accumulate. Rather than presenting the figure as a complete or fixed identity, she often works through fragmentation, concealment, repetition, and incompleteness. Gold appears throughout her work not merely as a decorative material, but as a conceptual element associated with continuity, memory, transformation, and the visibility of what remains. Her work has been presented in exhibitions and art events including Artweeks Akaretler, ArtContact Istanbul, and exhibitions at Taksim Sanat and İstiklal Sanat Galerisi in Istanbul. In 2026, her work Erasure was selected for the IX Chianciano Biennale and exhibited at the Chianciano Art Museum in Tuscany, Italy. At the Chianciano Biennale 2026, Erasure was subsequently selected for the London Art Biennale Award, making Erin one of ten artists chosen from the Biennale to participate in the London Art Biennale 2027. Her work therefore continues its international trajectory from Tuscany to London, while maintaining its central investigation into the relationship between the body, memory, and cultural inheritance.
