Hungary, 1961
Gabor Balatoni (1961) was born in Basel, Switzerland. He studied economics and upskilled himself in history of art. His early works as a painter emerged from a personal inspiration for landscapes created by French and Dutch painters. After having left the business world he moved to Siofok, Hungary. This marks the beginning of a new wave of creativity. His artistic style shifted towards the conceptual interest in abstract art. At the same time the intensity of colour and light and its vibrant effect in the painting became increasingly important. His compositions reflect the interplay between figurative forms, colour and light and emphasize new forms redesigned in different configurations.
