Irina Minodora Ene is a contemporary visual artist based in Sibiu, known for her highly conceptual, psychological, and interactive approach to art. She bridges the gap between different disciplines, using unconventional materials to explore human emotion, personal identity, and social friction.
Dual Background: Her work is deeply influenced by a dual background in visual arts and clinical psychology. Her pieces explore internal tension, vulnerability, and human emotional states.
Unconventional mediums: Rather than sticking to traditional canvas or clay, she chooses materials that elevate her concept. She has created sculptures out of stone and bread, drawings with flour, and experimental paintings using lipstick, blood, boot tracks, and bodily traces.
Interactive & Performance Art: Many of her exhibitions incorporate video performances or interactive elements that force the audience to participate, creating physical or emotional reactions to make a broader philosophical point.
Notable Solo Exhibitions & Projects:
”Copt la minte/ Baked mind” (2025): An installation showcase hosted during the Sibiu International Contemporary Art Festival (SCAF) at Promenada Mall. The project utilized flour as its core element to explore themes of intellectual, political, and human maturity. Twelve baked brain-breads were exhibited alongside a video performance and some ambidextruous dough drawings.
"Să vezi cu toți ochii/ To see with all of your eyes” (2025): A personal exhibition hosted at the Brukenthal Contemporary Art Museum in Sibiu, pushing viewers to look past superficial forms and tap into the symbolic essence of matter.
”T’artă/ T'art” (2024): An experimental performance at the U.A.P. Gallery in Sibiu, where visitors had to choose between paying for a slice of tart or physically stepping on paintings to get it for free—a social experiment about how easily core societal values are stepped on.
