Karina Woldt is an international artist born in Munich, based in 2 studios in Dumfries and Galloway, Moniaive, her main home. She also practices biweekly studio by the sea in Portobello, Edinburgh.
Development and University Courses
1994-1999:
She studied and qualified in 1999 Fine Art to HND equivalent level at the University of Regensburg, Germany (5 year course) specialising then in landscapes, figurative art and sculpture 1.3 ( equivalent to an A overall)
1994-1999: Karina studied Undergraduate psychology course ( BA Honours) at
University of Regensburg, Germany (qualifying 1999 with 1.2
equivalent to an A.
2000-2004 Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University of Glasgow, qualified in
2004.
2000-2023:
From 2000 Karina dedicated more of her time to her psychology career, due to her studying for a doctorate degree in Psychology. Thereafter her main focus was her working as a clinical Psychologist for the NHS in Glasgow and later Dumfries in Adult mental health. Her main goal during this phase was to help others with mood issues, so she initially devoted less time to her art career.
From 2001 to 2023, the focus of the artwork shifted toward producing smaller pieces, including cards, prints, and handmade jewellery, which were sold at craft markets and art shops.
Training as a mindfulness – based therapist in 2008 made her more interested in Buddhism, staying present in the moment and being embodied. This philosophy still runs deeply throughout her artwork.
Various art-courses: including Screen printing and Lino printing course at Thomas Tosh Café in 2018.
2022 onwards :
Mid 2022 after leaving her Clinical Psychologist post with the NHS, she transitioned to working parttime as private Psychologist and therapist. This gave her the time needed to develop her art career further over the last 4 years in particular.
2024 oil painting and landscape painting at Grace field art centre, Dumfries over the years helped her develop her semi-abstract landscape painting style further.
November 2023 she started publishing her work more on social media platforms allowing her to reach a wider audience nationally and internationally. This led to her exhibiting more fine artwork locally in both Dumfriesshires and Edinburgh over the last 3 years.
Exhibitions have included solo shows and group exhibitions in both areas, also from her art studio and internationally in various countries and galleries.
December 2024:I curated my own solo art exhibition in Dumfries my first full solo art exhibition which was well received.
Her international art career started to develop from early 2025 with her getting more offers for international group exhibition and art prices. Below is a section of the more recent exhibitions in 2025 and the upcoming bigger exhibitions in 2026 .
Karina still works in two private businesses as an Artist and Clinical Psychologist. Her psychologist knowledge, mindful practice informs her art work creating a sense of emotional depth to her work which has been noted in various publications. Her aim is to create healing art for the mid and body by guiding the audience to the movement and flow of energy found in natures elements of water, light and fire.
