Marija Ristova is an emerging visual artist based in Gevgelija, North Macedonia.
She primarily works with acrylics on large-scale canvases, and symbolism and vibrant colors are predominant in her art.
Drawing inspiration from dreams, ancient mythologies, magical realism and the beauty of natural forms, Ristova explores the duality and interconnectedness of mind and body, spirit and matter, emotion and logic. By integrating archetypes and sacred geometry with the mundane aspects of life, through a bold, unrealistic palette, the viewer's subconscious recognition is encouraged to transcend the comfort of realism towards the mystical.
Ristova's visionary art channels the female human experience by externalizing internal realities and exploring the depths of the psyche.
Marija Ristova has attended the High School of Arts "Lazar Lichenoski" in Skopje, North Macedonia. Her paintings have been featured in local solo and group exhibitions and are held in private collections.
She is currently working towards her second solo exhibition, which continues to explore the bridge between the physical and spiritual realms.
