riccardomacinaiMy first love was photography, which I studied and practiced for many years, focusing primarily on black and white portraiture. I started oil painting during my university years, drawing inspiration from the great masters of the past. Later on, I began to paint using my own photographs as a reference. My paintings are therefore a synthesis of photographic language and classical painting. My current works are characterized by the use of unusual materials such as resins, inks, and pigments. The starting point is always a photograph. Creating the "resins" is a long and complex process: "I start with an idea that progressively materializes before me. The final work is always the result of precise choices and accidental occurrences."
