South Africa, 2000
As we all are, I am an experiential being, creating and experiencing creation.
I started out drawing in pencil, pencil colour and pen, as far back as my memory allows. Throughout late primary school, into high school and university I had done commissioned portraits in pencil, charcoal and watercolour. Because of my passion for art, I attended Frank Joubert Art School in Cape Town as an additional subject to the regular academic curriculum from 2016 to 2018. I was part of the drawing & mixed media group and was honoured to graduate first in my discipline and overall top of the art school in 2018. During my time at the art school, I felt the drive to explore even more complex visual accomplishments, so in my spare time discovered separately that I had a passion for working outside of my discipline. In 2016, self-taught, I begun painting in acrylics, and in 2021, painted in oil for the first time. It is my preferred medium til this day.
I have since displayed some of my work in galleries around Cape Town and am currently a member of two art galleries on the west coast of New Zealand. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in 2022 from the University of Cape Town, I crossed the waters and am now based in Westport in the South Island, where I practice, continue to produce art, partake in farmer's markets selling smoothies and enjoy the endless native bush!
Over the years I curated artworks to suit themed shows, protests and participated in collaborations. My current focus is on producing works of purpose that will continue to inspire. I gravitate majorly towards subject matter pertaining to expressions of love and beauty- human figures, food & fabrics. It brings me the utmost pleasure to convey detail and render images that are awe-inspiring and thought-provoking, inviting the viewer to experience the subject matter directly, working mostly in the styles of Realism & Classical.
Therefore my occupation is a bit more than just an artist or just a physiotherapist, also through me comes song, dance, life and laughter. In short: good people, good food, health and art, good conversation and good music are the pillars of my life and living.
Most of all, I strive to find out all things Good, True and Beautiful.
