Sonia Kovatcheva born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, major “Textile”. Since 2007, she has held a PhD in Art History and Fine Arts from the National Academy of Arts. She is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. Since 1999, she has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous Bulgarian and international forums, curatorial projects, plein-air, workshops, and contemporary art exhibitions, including the global project Imago Mundi Collection, Venice, Villa Waldberta and GEDOCmuc Gallery, Munich, the Center for Contemporary Art in Niš, Serbia and others. She has participated in exhibitions and festivals for contemporary art in Blagoevgrad, Sofia, Ruse and others. In 2009, 2010 and 2012, she was a resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, and in 2012 and 2013 at Villa Waldberta, Munich, where she presented her works.
