Born in 1969, Lana Nobrega is a Portugal based artist whose work contemplates the delicate spaces between observation and memory. Her unique perspective is shaped by an early academic path—she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics—which instilled a lasting focus on balance, intangible value, and underlying systems. This analytical framework deeply informs her artistic exploration of sensory and emotional thresholds.
Trained at the art school under academy mentor Eugenia Schipakina she studied the disciplined techniques of the Old Masters. This training in classical methods — from layered glazing to the preparation of grounds and the use of historically crafted material — forms the enduring technical foundation of her practice. She intentionally employs this venerable knowledge to achieve the depth, luminosity, and enduring quality that define her canvases.
