South Korea, 1987

Sally Yang is a Seoul-based visual artist whose practice centers on painting and drawing. Beginning with video-based works exploring disappearing spaces and memories, she has developed a distinctive visual language through layered ink and oil pastel works on paper. Her recent works investigate traces of growth, resilience, and transformation within urban environments, drawing inspiration from plants, shadows, and overlooked landscapes. Yang has held three solo exhibitions, including Concrete Lyricism (2025), Vertigo, Emotions (2023), and Landscape of Affect (2021). Her work has been presented in numerous exhibitions in South Korea and internationally, including Art on Paper at The Hudgens Center (Georgia, USA), Art On Loop at The Holy Art Gallery (London, UK), The Green Ray at DOOSAN Gallery (Seoul), and the Seoul Arts Center Art Fair. She was selected for the 2026 Working Protocol residency program and has received several awards, including Artist of the Year at the 2025 Korea Drawing Competition. Her works are held in the collections of Jeonbuk National University, Jimmoa, and the Korea Colored Pencil Association. Through the accumulation of lines, colors, and layered surfaces, Yang explores the fragile relationship between memory, time, and the persistence of life in contemporary urban spaces.
