Faultline is part of the ongoing series called "Conversations with Black", in which restrained colour, gesture, and atmosphere are used to explore tension, balance, and quiet transformation. Across a pale, mist-like ground, a fractured band of black and deep blue-green marks cuts through the surface like a shifting geological seam or distant horizon. Layers of paint are built up, erased, scratched back, and softened again, allowing traces of movement and memory to remain visible.
The work moves between solidity and dissolution, suggesting both rupture and connection. Rather than depicting a specific landscape, Faultline evokes an emotional terrain shaped by instability, silence, and change. The painting is presented in a pale wood shadow frame that extends the work’s sense of openness and restraint.
