"Night Walkers" is based on a true story and directly refers to Goslar. We traveled to Goslar for the opening of a friend’s photography exhibition. It was the evening before the exhibition, and the photographer wanted to walk through the city and take photos. Our path also led us to the Kaiserpfalz. Initially, we took photos in front of it, but then also captured our long shadows, which were created by the building's lighting. The image captures just that moment.
Night often stands as a symbol of the unknown, mysteries, or hidden aspects of life. Night walkers are thus people who move within these unknown or concealed areas, but at the same time, they reflect their inner worlds. The night is also a time for self-reflection and self-discovery. Therefore, we do not see the faces in my paintings, but rather an abstract structure into which one can immerse themselves. For this technique, I also use painting with magnets and metal shavings.
