In the foreground we see the face of an old man. His gaze is absent – bright blue eyes stare into the distance, past the viewer. The face is lined with wrinkles, yet it has a noble expression. A gray beard, mustache, and long hair frame his features. This is a hermit, a recluse. Disillusioned with people – their hypocrisy, envy, and lies – he decided to live in seclusion, by his own rules. In the background, the outline of a ruined building – an allegory of his soul: destroyed, yet still standing. A faint hope for renewal still smolders within it. His noble features and clear eyes – a reflection of a pure soul – show that he remained true to himself and his principles, though he had to go against the current all his life, and ultimately chose solitude.
