I am a contemporary artist based in Glastonbury, UK. I hold a BA in Fine Arts from UWE and have exhibited in West Country galleries, including the Royal West of England Academy annual open 173. Following a long battle with a brain tumour, which rendered me unable to create, I am now once again making work from my Somerset studio. This journey, which propelled me into the very depths of soul-searching, strongly influences my work. I draw inspiration from ancient myth and symbol, and love to place mythological figures in contemporary settings, thereby illustrating how ancient archetypes continue to resonate in the present day. In my painting 'Truth coming out of her Well', she is taking a selfie to shame humanity with the 'naked' truth instead of holding up a mirror, as in the 1896 painting by Jean Leon Gerome.
