Egypt, 1974

Laila Mohsen Hassan is an Egyptian visual artist whose work explores storytelling through scenes from everyday life, interpreted through her own expressive visual language. Her paintings create emotionally engaging and visually immersive worlds that invite viewers to uncover layered narratives through symbolism, atmosphere, and dynamic composition. She received her Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of the Arts London (UAL), United Kingdom, pursued studies in Art Education at the University of Cologne, Germany, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt. Her artistic language combines elements of Impressionism, Abstraction, and, at times, Surrealism, characterized by expressive brushwork, movement, light, texture, and vibrant color harmony. Laila has participated in exhibitions and artistic events in Egypt, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Her recent exhibitions include her Solo Exhibition at Ahmed Shawky Museum (2024) the General Exhibition of Egypt (2024 and 2025), Art Generations Group Exhibition at DUROUB Gallery (2026). She was also selected as a finalist in the Global Art League Competition (Canada, 2025), the Ethraa “Traveling in Time” online Competition (Saudi Arabia 2026) and the Papyrus Initiative Competition organized by WADF in collaboration with UNESCO (Egypt,2026), reflecting the growing international recognition of her work.
