United States, 1960
After graduating from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, I began my art career as a painter, but when I created my first mixed-media piece, I felt truly liberated and at home in my art. Using whatever media I could find – including combining photographs into something new – allowed me to experiment endlessly and develop as an artist. I employ media of all kinds, depending on which will best express what each piece wants. My main inspirations are feminism, abstract/experimental film, harmful political policies of any country, and Earth. For me, art is a path toward a place I hopefully will never reach, because I don’t want the exploration to end.
